Thelma Sharma

I have been practising Playback since 2000.  I was a facilitator for Playback South, a London group, until it disbanded in 2020.  |I am now a member of True Heart Theatre

My background is in teaching, for the majority of the time concerned with raising achievement of ethnic minority pupils in Primary education.  I also studied Dramatherapy at Roehampton, London.

I have been involved with theatre projects and performance projects.  A major project was the creation and staging of Hotel Medea, a Brazilian/London collaboration with performances in Rio de Janeiro province and in London.  It was an immersive overnight event, the last appearance being in 2012 in the Hayward gallery.

More recently, I have worked with the choreographer Alex Baczynski-Jenkins in a Chisenhale commission,

‘The tremble, the symptom, the swell and the hole together’  (January -March 2017) which was shown in many European cities in the following years including, Warsaw, Milan, Madrid, Paris, Bilbao, Kuopio.

I am at present involved with Immediate Theatre, Hackney, which engages  with local communities using drama.
